What Should Be Considered During the Engine Overhaul Process?

During an engine overhaul, the cylinder liners in the engine block are resurfaced or replaced depending on their wear level, using standard sizes such as STD, 0.25, 0.50, or 1.00 mm. If necessary, the cylinder head surface is also machined to ensure proper sealing.

Key engine components such as the piston head, cylinder head, timing belts, piston rings, crankshaft, camshaft, bearings, and valves are either refurbished or replaced as needed.

After thorough cleaning and drying processes, the engine is reassembled and tested.

The average lifespan of a reconditioned diesel engine after overhaul is approximately 600,000 km, depending on usage.

For the first 1,000 km, it’s important to avoid overstraining the vehicle to allow the moving parts within the engine to settle and adapt to each other.
